From quiet shores perfect for solo reflection to coastal roads where you can enjoy the sunset on an easy drive, I’ve gathered my most cherished, go-to sunset spots—places to wrap up 2023 in the most beautiful way. For the last sunset of the year, let’s be here together.
This is the sea 펼쳐진 right in front of Insmill, the Instagram-famous, vibe-y café. Walk along the straight path that cuts toward the water and snap a photo—anyone can get a true “life shot” here. Around sunset, don’t miss the view waiting for you at the very end of that seaside path.
A quiet fishing port that faces Chagwido. You can step out of the car and see the sunset right away, making it perfect for a quick stop to watch the day fade. The sunset dropping beyond Chagwido—said to resemble a whale’s back—is especially beautiful, which is why this place is known as a top sunset photo spot.
A must-visit spot on Iho Tewoo, the closest beach to Jeju City. Even without going far, the sunset view from the red horse-shaped lighthouse is absolutely stunning. When the sky colors up behind the lighthouse at the end of the white sand beach, the whole scene looks like a painting. Because it’s so close by, it’s an easy, low-pressure place to drop in and enjoy sunset.
A coastal road that’s famous as a drive course—and with its position on Jeju’s west coast, the sunsets here are among the best. When the red glow hits the massive wind turbines lined up over the sea, the view turns into something almost unreal. Take it slow as you drive, or stroll between the turbines and soak in the darkening sky.
A coastal trail along the cliffs on top of an oreum, and part of the Olle Trail. It’s a gorgeous place to watch the sunset with Chagwido in the background as you walk. Considered one of the standout views on Olle Route 12, it offers sweeping, open sea scenery. Just note that the return can be dangerous once it gets dark, so it’s best to turn back before the sun fully sets.
A small port at the end of Sagye Coastal Road, a scenic drive that links Songaksan and Sanbangsan. It’s perfect for taking photos along the drive at the mysterious-looking Sagye Coast, then finishing by sitting quietly at the port to enjoy the sunset. With black sand and Sanbangsan rising in the distance, this is a place where you can savor sunset at an unhurried, peaceful pace.
An oreum famous for sunsets on Jeju’s west side. In the late afternoon, many people hike up specifically for the view—the west-sea sunset spread out from the summit is truly exceptional. The scenery with silver grass is also a highlight you shouldn’t miss. However, the descent can be risky after dark, so I recommend starting down with plenty of time before the sun goes down.
