소개

Seongeup Folk Village, located in Seongeup-ri, Pyoseon-myeon, is one of Jeju’s 대표 traditional villages and a historically significant place that served as the administrative center of Jeongeui-hyeon during the Joseon Dynasty for about 500 years. Its defining feature is that it remains a “living” folk village where residents still reside today. Jeju thatched-roof houses and stone wall lanes, along with old fortress remains and government office buildings, are preserved in forms close to their originals. Within the village, various cultural heritage elements—such as Jeongeuihyanggyo (Confucian school), Geunminheon, dol hareubang stone statues, a millstone grinder (yeonjabang-a), and a tongsi (traditional toilet)—offer a close look at Jeju’s traditional way of life. Touring with a cultural tourism guide helps deepen your understanding of the history, and you can also experience intangible cultural heritage such as Jeju folk songs and traditional drinks like omegi-sul and gosori-sul. As a 대표 cultural heritage attraction in eastern Jeju, it’s recommended for family trips or history-focused itineraries where you can experience Jeju’s old scenery and traditions up close.
