Rising to 1,950m above sea level, Hallasan is South Korea’s highest peak and a 대표 natural attraction towering at the center of Jeju Island. Formed by volcanic activity, it is a shield volcano, and at its summit lies Baengnokdam, a crater lake. The entire mountain is designated and protected as Hallasan National Park. Its outstanding value is internationally recognized, having been listed as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, World Natural Heritage site, and Global Geopark. Hallasan offers a variety of hiking trails—including Seongpanak, Gwaneumsa, Yeongsil, and Eorimok—each presenting completely different scenery by season. From spring azaleas and lush summer forests to autumn foliage and winter snowscapes, it is an essential Jeju landmark where you can experience Jeju’s nature in every season.
