Enter 'Geumneung Beach' or the address (Geumneung-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju-si) into your navigation app. It’s only about 5 minutes from Hyeopjae Beach along the coastal road, so many travelers visit both beaches as part of the same day itinerary. Since both beaches draw large crowds in summer, it’s best to make flexible use of roadside parking near the beach and nearby public parking lots. Convenience stores, cafés, and restaurants are also clustered within walking distance.
🗓️ 2026 opening schedule and hours
All 12 designated beaches in Jeju open on the same schedule this year. Geumneung Beach will also operate from June 24 to September 6, with a relatively generous schedule extending into early September in consideration of the lingering summer heat.
⚠️ Swimming is not allowed after hours
Swimming is limited to the hours when lifeguards are on duty: 10:00~19:00. Even during the official opening period, entering the water outside these hours is restricted, so keep this in mind when planning your visit.
⛱️ On-site rental items
During the opening season, parasol and tube rental booths line the sandy beach. If you want to travel light and keep your baggage to a minimum, renting on-site will cover the basics.
💡 Good to know On busy weekends and during peak season, rental items may run out before noon. Arriving early in the morning is the safer choice.

Because the water is shallow and the sand is bright, the sea glows clear like glass on sunny days. In many areas you can see all the way to the bottom, making it great for a snorkeling-style stroll in the water.

Apart from the clear daytime water, this beach shows a completely different side as the sun begins to set. Since it faces west, the sunset spreads directly across the water, leaving a warm red glow that lingers. Crowds also thin out compared with midday, making it a great time to enjoy the beach at a slower pace.

Too good to skip after only visiting Hyeopjae
Since it’s only 5 minutes away by car, try adding Geumneung to your Hyeopjae itinerary. Like Hyeopjae, it’s popular with both tourists and locals, so it may be a bit crowded in peak summer, but it makes for a rewarding course with clear water, views of Biyangdo Island, and even sunset.
