3 Hallasan Fall Foliage Spots You Need to Go Right Now 🍁

Three Hallasan foliage spots at peak this weekend: Cheona Valley (foliage along the stream; crowded on weekends; connects to Cheona Forest Trail), Cheonwangsa (accessible by car and peaceful; photo spot), Eorimok Trail (10-minute walk from entrance to Omokgyo Bridge; entry allowed until 2 PM in Oct, 12 PM in Nov).

Here are three Hallasan fall foliage spots said to be at their peak this weekend.

Nature
Cheona Valley217-5, San, Haean-dong, Jeju-si

This natural attraction is located at the entrance to Cheona Forest Trail on the Hallasan Dulle-gil. You can take in Jeju’s distinctive landscape where dense forest, a valley stream, and volcanic rock come together. In autumn, red and yellow foliage spreads along the valley, drawing many visitors. The forest path that follows the valley is a popular, easy walking course, and in the quiet surroundings you can feel Jeju’s nature up close. It offers a different charm in every season, but the fall scenery is especially beautiful, making it a recommended spot for photography and a relaxing getaway.

First up is Cheona Valley, the most famous place for fall colors in Jeju. It’s already well-known, so during foliage season there are tons of cars and people—so crowded there’s barely room to step—but once you arrive, the autumn colors lining the valley make a truly spectacular view. If you have extra time, I also recommend walking the Cheona Forest Trail that starts from Cheona Valley.

Cheonwangsa is a traditional temple located on the slopes of Hallasan Mountain near Jeju’s 1100 Road, offering a quiet place to rest and recharge in nature where valleys and rock cliffs come together. Since its founding in 1955, it has carried on an important part of Jeju’s Buddhist culture. Behind the Daeungjeon Hall, the massive Yongbawi (Dragon Rock) and the walking path that follows the valley leave a lasting impression. Nearby are Seonnyeo Waterfall and a spring, making it easy to take a light stroll around, and the scenery changes with each season so you can enjoy a different mood year-round. In particular, the autumn foliage is especially beautiful, and the temple is also known as a hidden fall foliage spot in Jeju. It’s recommended for travelers who want to experience a quieter, calmer side of Jeju away from crowded tourist areas.

Second is Cheonwangsa. It’s tucked deep in the mountains of Hallasan, but you can still drive up. Cheonwangsa used to be a foliage spot known mostly to locals, then it became popular with travelers after appearing on Hyori’s Homestay, and these days it’s quiet again—making it a great time to visit. It’s especially recommended for anyone who has trouble walking long distances, and there’s a signature photo spot that looks amazing in pictures.

Hallasan Eorimok Trail2070-61, 1100-ro, Jeju-si

One of the 대표 trails in Hallasan National Park, this popular course lets you enjoy dense forest paths and sweeping alpine meadow scenery. Starting with a gentle slope, it’s a relatively easy walk for most visitors. Along the route leading to Witseoreum, you can discover different charms of Hallasan each season—spring azaleas, lush green meadows in summer, autumn foliage and silver grass, and snowy winter landscapes. With both rich natural ecology and open panoramic views, it’s widely regarded as one of Jeju’s 대표 trekking destinations.

Last, the third spot is Eorimok, one of the Hallasan hiking trails. Even though it’s a Hallasan trail, you don’t have to go all the way to the summit.

From the Eorimok entrance to Omokgyo Bridge is about a 10-minute walk, and this section has gorgeous fall colors and a mystical forest path—perfect for a healing stroll. The foliage seen from Omokgyo Bridge is so beautiful that many people come here to capture their lifetime photos.

Also, the Eorimok entrance has a timed entry restriction. In October you can enter until 2 PM, but from November it’s only until 12 PM, so you’ll want to head out early.
