I had visited Geumneung Beach many times, but I never imagined a place like this was hidden across the road.

As I was about to leave after seeing the sea, I spotted a blue pool between the palm trees. Thinking it was another ocean-view café commonly found on Jeju, I stepped inside, but the atmosphere changed completely once I passed the entrance.

A spacious pool area with sunbeds and parasols unfolded before me, with Geumneung’s blue sea stretching beyond. The word that immediately came to mind was quite simple.

Beach Cliff sits just across one road from Geumneung Beach.

From the sea, the building and palm trees catch your eye first, but it is difficult to guess what lies inside. That is why the moment the pool appears after you pass the entrance feels especially memorable.

It was not somewhere I had added to my itinerary, which made the discovery even more enjoyable. I wandered in out of curiosity while walking along Geumneung Beach, and the atmosphere suddenly felt as if I had arrived at a resort somewhere beyond Jeju.

Palm trees and a blue pool alone are not enough to describe the atmosphere. Parasols, sunbeds, brightly colored seats, and strings of lights overhead come together to make the entire space feel like a beach club.

It is not merely decorated for show. People were actually swimming, eating, and relaxing on the sunbeds. It felt less like a photo spot and more like somewhere to spend a summer afternoon.

A Pool Too Tempting to Simply Look At

If you visit Beach Cliff, I recommend making use of the pool.

At first, I planned to just have a drink and look around. But watching people float and play in the blue water quickly made me regret not bringing a swimsuit.

The pool is divided into a shallow area suitable for young children and a main pool where adults can enjoy the water too. Rather than a lap pool for serious swimming, it is a resort-style pool where you can cool off, float around, and relax.

There were plenty of seats around the pool for taking a break. After alternating between playing in the water, resting on a sunbed, and jumping back in when it gets hot, it is easy to forget that you only stopped by a café.

However, because it is an outdoor pool and not heated, you should take care to stay warm on windy days or when visiting with young children. It is best to bring your own towels, a change of clothes, and any swimming gear you need, such as a tube or life jacket.

The biggest question is probably whether the pool has a separate fee. The easiest way to understand it is that pool use is generally included in the amount you spend at the café.

However, a minimum order may apply depending on the seat. If you only intend to use the pool, check the ordering requirements first. If you plan to enjoy drinks and a meal as well, review the conditions for your preferred seating area.

When the weather is good, the outdoor seating naturally catches your eye first.

A seat near the pool makes swimming more convenient, while relaxing on a sunbed lets you fully enjoy the resort atmosphere. Another advantage of the outdoor seats is the open view of Geumneung’s blue sky and palm trees.

When the sun is strong or you want a cool break, the indoor area is a welcome option. Inside are a long bar and tables, and the outdoor scenery continues through the windows, so the atmosphere does not feel interrupted even when you sit indoors.

During the day it looks like a bright, laid-back café, but judging by the lighting and bar layout, it likely becomes much livelier in the evening.

A Place Worth Considering for a Meal, Not Just a Drink

Beach Cliff felt less like a café where you stop for coffee and leave, and more like a place to linger over drinks and a casual meal.

Hot dogs, rice dishes, and other foods that are satisfying after swimming are available. What we ordered was closer to a full meal than a light snack.

Since pool use is included with menu orders, it makes more sense to allow plenty of time rather than quickly finishing one drink and leaving.

To enjoy the space more leisurely, you could explore Geumneung Beach, have a late lunch, and then swim, or spend plenty of time in the pool and stay through an early dinner.

Why It Is Even Better with Geumneung Beach

What ultimately completes Beach Cliff’s atmosphere is Geumneung Beach right out front.

Biyangdo Island is visible through the windows and from the outdoor area, and the shore is only moments away after leaving the café. You can stroll along Geumneung Beach after swimming in the pool or come inside for comfortable seating and food after playing in the sea.

At low tide, Geumneung Beach reveals shallow water and a broad stretch of sand, making it ideal for a leisurely walk. The blue pool and Geumneung’s emerald sea may look similar, yet they create completely different moods.

Perhaps Beach Cliff’s greatest appeal is that you do not have to choose between the beach and the pool—you can enjoy both in a single day.

Who Will Enjoy It Most?

With its pool, this place may first appeal to families looking for somewhere to visit with children. But it is not only for family travelers.

It is also great for swimming with friends and enjoying the summer atmosphere, or sitting on a sunbed with your partner and looking out at the sea. Solo visitors can enjoy a drink indoors while taking in the view of Geumneung’s waters.

However, if you expect a quiet café, the lively atmosphere of a midsummer weekend may feel unfamiliar. With the pool, music, and laughter all around, those seeking a quieter experience may prefer an earlier visit or a weekday.

At first, I thought I had simply discovered a new café in front of Geumneung Beach.

But once I stepped into the pool and looked at the blue sky through the palm trees, it felt as if I had briefly entered a resort in another country. A view I thought would require a faraway journey was right in front of Geumneung Beach.

If you want to experience paradise, you may not need an elaborate plan—just start by packing a swimsuit and towel.
