A signature summer destination in Jeju!
Of course, it’s the beaches with breathtaking scenery.
Jeju Island has lots of beaches.
This year, 5 beaches (Geumneung, Hyeopjae, Gwakji, Hamdeok, Iho Tewoo) start early opening on June 24, followed by 7 beaches (Samyang, Gimnyeong, Woljeong, Hwasun, Jungmun, Pyoseon, Sinyang Seopji) opening on July 1.
You can’t visit them all, so take a look in advance through photos and videos and pick your favorite.
When friends come to Jeju and ask me to recommend a beach, the first place I tell them to go is Geumneung.
It’s my absolute favorite, and I always recommend it because I want to share this beautiful view.
Not only is the sea a stunning emerald color, but the palm-filled scenery is also incredible.
The water is shallow, making it great for families to enjoy playing in the sea with kids—so it’s a popular spot for family travelers.
There’s also a campground set under a lush forest nearby, so plenty of people come here to camp as well.
Geumneung and Hyeopjae are right next to each other, so you can walk along the trail and get from one to the other in just 5–10 minutes.

Geumneung and Hyeopjae may feel similar, but they each have their own vibe.
The water is a bit deeper than Geumneung, and the waves are stronger, making it better for adults to enjoy.
Unlike Geumneung, which is a bit away from the commercial area, here you’ll find cafés, restaurants, rental shops, and other amenities close by.
Woljeongri, meaning “where the moon stays,” is a beach already loved by many for its beautiful scenery.
Over the past few years, lots of pretty cafés and shops have opened up, turning it into a trending hot spot.
Along with the gorgeous ocean, it’s also fun to browse the small shops inside Woljeongri village.
It’s also a great place for water sports like surfing, kayaking, and boating, and at night, pubs light up their neon signs as people gather.
Hamdeok Beach is one of Jeju’s 대표 (go-to) resort destinations.
The clear blue sea and picture-perfect scenery are so beautiful that it draws huge crowds—locals and international visitors alike.
As a resort area, it has a well-developed nearby commercial district with great amenities such as cafés, restaurants, and hotels.
If you’re looking for a beach with a lively, city-like vibe, I recommend Hamdeok Beach.
