Full of Healing 🏝 2 Nights 3 Days Jeju Family Trip with the Kids in May

On this 2-night, 3-day Jeju family trip in May, we enjoyed Hallasan’s ridgeline and a panoramic view of Jeju City on Day 1 at the Eoseungsaengak Trail (about 1 hour round-trip to the top). On Day 2, we played in the water at Geumneung Beach, took in the view of Chagwido from Dangsanbong, went dolphin-spotting along Noeulhaean-ro, and watched the sunset at Suwolbong. On Day 3, we visited Yongmeori Coast and the Sanbangsan walking trail.

13:00 Arrive at Jeju Airport

15:00 Eoseungsaengak Trail

18:00 Hotel

On the first day of our Jeju trip, we stopped by Eoseungsaengak on the way to the hotel to get a taste of Hallasan. The Eoseungsaengak Trail is the shortest among the Hallasan courses. Of course, it’s not the route that goes up to the summit—Baengnokdam. Still, it’s a great place to experience Hallasan with elementary-school kids without spending too much of your Jeju itinerary on hiking.

The Eoseungsaengak Trail takes about 30 minutes one way to the top, so even with kids, a full round trip is comfortably doable in about an hour.

From the summit of Eoseungsaengak, you can take in Hallasan’s beautiful ridgeline and a sweeping view of Jeju City at a glance.

11:00 Geumneung Beach

15:00 Dangsanbong

16:00 Noeulhaean-ro Dolphin Exploration

18:00 Suwolbong

If there’s one thing you want to see first when you come to Jeju, it’s probably that signature emerald-colored sea.

Geumneung Beach with Biyangdo in view

To fully enjoy Jeju’s ocean, we headed to the beautiful Geumneung Beach. Not only is the water shallow—making the emerald hue even more vivid—but it’s also perfect for splashing around with kids. Above all, the sea view with Biyangdo as the backdrop, Geumneung Beach’s signature scene, instantly wins people over.

Geumneung-ri village

Walking along the roads of Geumneung-ri village, we eventually reached Geumneung Port, which was recently used as a filming location for the drama Our Blues. Geumneung-ri has lots of cute pensions and small shops, so its alleyways are lovely to wander. As you walk the village Olle path between stone walls, it feels like the old houses lined up on both sides are ready to tell you their stories.

After spending plenty of time in Geumneung, we drove along the coastal road and climbed Dangsanbong in Hallimyeon.

Dangsanbong, Jeju

In Hallimyeon, there’s a stunning uninhabited island called Chagwido. It used to be inhabited, but due to a lack of fresh water, it’s said to have become uninhabited. The view of Chagwido from Dangsanbong is simply superb—somewhere I’d love to recommend to everyone visiting Jeju. Aside from local residents out for a walk, it’s not a spot that sees many travelers, so you can enjoy it in peace.  The panoramic view stretching from Suwolbong to the Sinchang Coastal Road adds even more charm to a Jeju trip.

Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin in Jeju

Jeju is home to about 130 Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins. They roam all around Jeju, but recently the area where they’re most frequently spotted is Noeulhaean-ro. To meet Jeju’s dolphins, we hopped on an electric scooter and started a drive along Noeulhaean-ro.

Noeulhaean-ro is a coastal road that runs from Suwolbong to Dongil-ri in Daejeong-eup. Since this area is practically the dolphins’ living room, you can often spot them here.

Suwolbong

After saying goodbye to the dolphins, we rode the scooter up to Suwolbong to catch the sunset. Suwolbong is one of the few oreum you can drive up to. It’s also well known as a geotrail, but it’s especially famous for its sunsets—so when golden hour arrives, photographers, travelers, and local residents all come to visit.

11:00 Yongmeori Coast

12:00 Sanbangsan

15:00 Goodbye JEJU

Yongmeori Coast

On the last day of our Jeju trip, we decided to visit Yongmeori Coast. Before going, we called to check whether entry was allowed. Thankfully, the weather was good today, so we were able to go in.

Yongmeori Coast geotrail

The towering cliffs—formed as layered rock built up over tens of millions of years was carved by waves—are breathtakingly grand. The feeling of standing in a primeval landscape, turning back time, can even bring the Grand Canyon to mind. The walking path that continues from Yongmeori Coast out to Sanbang Yeondae is truly spectacular.
