After the long winter, spring is finally here with a gentle, warm breeze.

Spring news always starts in the south, right? In Jeju—where spring arrives the earliest in Korea—here are the places you simply have to visit in spring.

가파도
Gapado Green Barley Festival

This is Gapado, where you can meet spring earlier than anywhere else in Korea.

Gapado, another island you can visit from Jeju, feels so close it’s almost within reach. It takes just 10 minutes by ferry from Unjin Port.

When spring arrives on Gapado, the island is blanketed in green barley and yellow canola flowers, creating beautiful scenery. Under the warm spring sun, you can wander through the village lanes and soak up the calm atmosphere of an island village.

녹산로
Noksan-ro Drive Course

Next is Noksan-ro, a spring flower spot you absolutely shouldn’t miss.

Noksan-ro is a famous drive where you can enjoy Jeju’s deep-blue sky alongside pink cherry blossoms and yellow canola flowers. With a route stretching about 5 km, it’s perfect for a leisurely flower-viewing drive. If you stop by Jorangmal Park and the Canola Flower Plaza around the middle of Noksan-ro, your trip will be even more fun.

예래생태공원
Morning at Daewangsucheon Yerae Ecological Park

Located right next to Jungmun, Yerae Ecological Park is so beautiful that it’s part of the Jeju Olle Trail Route 8. In spring, the scenery is especially lovely, with canola flowers and cherry blossoms together. It’s long been a go-to outing spot for locals when spring arrives, and these days it has become a bustling spring destination as more travelers visit.

혼인지
Honinji Cherry Blossom Grove

How about taking a walk around Honinji, where Jeju’s marriage culture has been passed down through generations?

Honinji is famous as a hydrangea spot, but it’s also stunning when cherry blossoms bloom. If you want to stroll across wide lawns, sit in the shade, and enjoy a sense of calm and peace, this is a place you shouldn’t miss.

제주목관아
Jeju-mok Government Office in Full Bloom with Plum Blossoms

If you want a relaxed break right in the city, Jeju-mok Government Office is a great choice. Sitting on the wooden floor of Gwandeokjeong—Jeju’s oldest building—somehow feels like it could tell you countless stories. Watching the eaves tiles against the blue sky while the scent of plum blossoms drifts on the wind will calm your mind. It’s also right next to Dongmun Market, so pairing it with a food tour is even better.

성읍민속마을
Seongeup Folk Village, Keeping Jeju Traditions Alive

When warm spring arrives, the canola flowers surrounding the fortress wall of Seongeup Folk Village turn a bright yellow. A village full of spring fragrance, lined with traditional thatched-roof houses, feels both friendly and charming. With various hands-on activities to enjoy, it’s recommended for family trips as well.

이승이오름
Iseungak with Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom at the Entrance Road

Spring, when warm sunlight reaches the land that had been frozen solid and new life begins to grow, is the best season to hike Jeju’s oreum. At the start of Iseungak in particular, Jeju’s wide-open fields and the cherry blossoms along the road create a unique landscape you won’t easily find elsewhere.

붉은오름자연휴양림
Cedar Forest Trail

How about a walk through a cedar forest while listening to birdsong? Bulgeunoreum Natural Recreation Forest is right next to Saryeoni Forest Path, which makes it even more recommendable. Instead of the crowded Saryeoni Forest Path, Bulgeunoreum’s quiet walking trails are perfect for soothing a tired body and mind from city life.

전농로
Jeonnong-ro King Cherry Blossom Festival

You can’t talk about spring without festivals, right?

In Jeju, cherry blossom festivals are being held again for the first time in 3 years. The festival on Jeonnong-ro in Jeju City—the original cherry blossom road—runs from March 24 to 26, and in Jangjeon-ri, Aewol-eup, a cherry blossom festival is also held for two days on March 25 and 26. If you’re traveling around this time, it’s worth stopping by at least once.

삼성혈
Samseonghyeol, a Cherry Blossom Hotspot

How about Samseonghyeol, where many people stop to take their best photos? Samseonghyeol, tied to the Samsin myth of Jeju Island, isn’t usually one of the most crowded tourist attractions. But for just one time each year—cherry blossom season—it becomes a popular cherry blossom spot visited by many.

감사공묘역
The Holy Land of Double Cherry Blossoms: Gamsagong Cemetery

No need to worry if you missed peak cherry blossoms. When the season ends in a flurry of petals, deep-pink double cherry blossoms begin to bloom in Jeju. Located in Jocheon-eup, Gamsagong Cemetery is considered a mecca for double cherry blossoms—highly recommended if you want to capture a life-best photo.
