A Treasure-Island-Like Find on a Rural Coastal Road: A Bookshop Where Time Stays

On the way home from Seongsan, not the usual road, not the usual stops~

We took an unfamiliar turn, saying we’d go somewhere new and try to find a café we’d really like.

Driving along the coastal road through a small village, we almost just passed by a bookshop with a red roof.

When we turned the car around to check it out, the sign that read “A Bookshop Where Time Stays” made me even more curious.

Is it a book café? Curious, so we decided to step inside for now~

Starting with the stone wall, the whole place just overflows with that Jeju vibe.

The clouds in the sky were so pretty too—it felt like a picture-perfect scene.

It’s an unmanned bookshop with a variety of books and LPs, and there are comfy spaces to enjoy—from sofas and tables to a room set up with floor seating.

In the kitchen, they even have coffee, drinks, and cup ramen ready, so it seems like a great place to take your time and relax with a book.

You can also buy postcard photos that look like they were taken by the owner, and if you write one and drop it into the mailbox, they’ll send it for you too. A postcard sent from your trip feels so delightfully sentimental.

In the yard, there’s a great photo spot set up like this, so you can leave with some lovely pictures too.

Since it’s an unmanned honor-system bookshop, we should use it neatly and responsibly—and make sure to pay what we used before leaving, right?

It’s heartbreaking that beautiful places like this sometimes get messed up by people without consideration, and end up disappearing.
